This has been a good year catching Kokanee, I can only remember two times we did not get are limits
I mostly use 5.5" sling blades and Double D Dodger 4.4" but some days other dodgers work better. sometimes what works one day does not work the next day.
Hoochie Skirts 1 1/2" and 2" long with #2 hooks and I add something on top of the Squid. the leader is longer in the spring and later about 8 to 9" between squid and dodger. sometimes I will try a 13" to 18" leader to see if it will work.

most of the time Koksnee will be in 52 to 54 deg water Temp. this will give me a starting point to put my downriggers plus what I see on the fishfinder.
speed changes so try 1.2 to 2.2 mph. I think 1.7 is best.

This came from
2016 Fish stocking information

I added this up, so may not be right
but this may be why it was a good year this year

KOKANEE stocking 2013 380,160
KOKANEE stocking 2014 679,932

This was my best year for kokanee as well. We only had a few times that we did not limit - one of those we had too many fishermen in the boat. Great summary of tackle and tactics.

Glad you guys have it figured out. This was my first kok. Ever but I got one

That is how we all (at least me) started. I remember the first year, I caught 4 over 2 trips and that got me hooked. This was my 4th year and I got more than the previous 3 years put together. Part of that was putting in more time on the water. Now if I could only figure them out through the ice.

great year for kokes at strawberry for me also , the size seemed to be down a bit from years past but the numbers are up , i tried fishing more on the soldier creek side this year to try and get a better handle on it . my best 2 rigs were rmt 5.5" dodgers . pink hyper with a cotton candy squid/ and 8 to 15 inches back. 5.5"( orange) sunrise Bahama dodger with orange/white squid. 1.4 mph. boy i can't wait til next year numbers and size should be up again.[Smile]

Good report, and nice to think back how the Koke season went...my first year trolling here for the kokes, but many good years at the Gorge.....if Strawberry or S.C. continue to do well on the kokes, my times up in Manila or Wyo. side may be very limited! And I'll enjoy getting to know Strawberry and S.C. better, of course with practice, but also thanks to some really good reports from fellow BFT ers, like all you guys.....so thanks, and Guluk...

orange also worked good for me better than most years
orange was working at Flaming Gorge this year also.
to start the year I had some Bulk orange Hoochie Skirts.
I'm down to One and can't find where I bought them.
I will have all winter to find them.

If you get something figured out for the winter let me know. I try but not much so far.
Only been able to pick a couple up that way and I am certain they were a fluke as I have not been able to repeat.
