Went up to Willard yesterday afternoon for our first time there and did okay, 5 wipers in the first 2 hours but nothing the 3rd hour, seemed like once the wind died down the fishing got slow and the bugs came out. Trolled along the northern dyke just across from the North Marina. Kept 3 ranging from 17 to 23 inches. 4 of the 5 were caught on my Kokanee lead core rods using a simple chartreuse jig head tipped with a crawler or Gulp Minnow, the 5th was caught on the downrigger using a Cordell Cotton Firetiger. All I can say is catching wipers on a light Koke rod is a hoot! Next trip though I think I will launch from the South Marina and head out farther.
