I got a special invite to Lake Powell in about a week. I haven't fished there for 15 years. If I was to spend $100/200 on lures, jigs, ect.....what are some things that I should purchase?

There are still plenty of striper slurps and boils going on, so you'll want to bring surface plugs like Zara Spooks etc, as well as spoons to catch the stripers after they go back down. What part of Powell are you going to? I've been there several times over the last couple months mostly just fishing - but I go out of Wahweap down south.
Also are you targeting any specific species or just after anything you can get?

For stripers- Lucky Crafts work- expensive but they work- jigging spoons are also something one should have.

My favorite bait to throw for stripers is a white pearl zoom fluke, rigged with a heavy Gamakatsu hook and a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce bullet sinker. The texas rig is better than a simple jig head because I found large stripers would straighten jig head hooks and a get off (if you can find quality jig heads, that could solve this problem). I like the heavy weight because you can cast it a mile, which is the most important thing in hitting a striper boil. The other advantage is unlike a topwater, you can follow the stripers down immediately when a boil ends and pick up an extra fish or two. Finally, I like the single hook for quick releases, as time can be of the essence.

We are just fishing freaks. We'll go after about in any species in there. We have spin rods and fly gear too.

If I only had $100 for tackle on 1 trip to Powell:
A. crankbaits (who cares what brand) that dive 12 - 15 feet.
B. Spoons (1/2 - 1 oz) for jigging / casting
C. handful of top-water poppers
Hit the bargain bins and buy whatever is on sale.
that should cover you.
Troll the cranks to locate schools of stripers.
Have another rod rigged with a spoon for dropping down to schools to spoon / jig.
Have another rod ready with a popper for the boils / slurps.
The spoon and crank can also be used when you come across a boil / slurp. Sometimes the spoon is best because you can cast it further to those slurps. Crank it back fast!
Poppers / spooks / etc. are great just because catch stripers on the surface is so fun!

We love to cast white /silver or baby bass colored 3" maniac minnows at the slurps. These work when they are on top and when they dive out of sight. You can't go wrong on these with Small mouth as well. Put them on a 32nd oz/ 1/8oz black jig head with some super glue to make them last longer. Great bait for spinning rods.
