Is anyone aware of good books or articles around Tiger Musky's? I'm looking to learn more about their behaviors, seasonal movements, prey base, etc. There is a quite a bit about true Musky's but I'm not sure how applicable that is to Tigers. Would like to get a musky in the net this year (preferably on the fly) and need to get a better plan than whipping the water to a froth from so much casting.

In Fisherman, Fishing Facts, and I believe that there are several mags dedicated to Musky. Check on the internet !! Musky are Musky, what works for the natural ones works for the hybrid .
Best results on a fly for me have been by teasing with a lure first.
Throw a Suick, Rapala or other stick bait, a musky sized spinner or a rubber jerk bait with no hooks to draw them out and show themselves.
Then drop the casting rig and throw the fly to where I think the fish is, twitch, twitch, strip, strip, twitch, twitch, strip, strip...
Use a fly that is similar in size and color to the tease bait.
Once you learn where they live, less teasing is needed, so it really helps to know how to get a few before you try on the fly.

The most recent Muskie, Inc magazine has some info. Matter-o-Fact magazine (attached) has a story on the WR muskie caught on a fly rod last year.
Our MI Chapter 65, has several folks who routinely fly fish for tigers and do very well. We're working on getting our Son who fly fishes into his first tiger muskie...he's had follows but no hookups...stick at it and you'll get one...is what we tell him.
No matter if its a rod and reel or a fly rod...its dedicated time on the water and working the K2 motto 3Ps (passion, persistence and above all patience). Stick at it again is what we tell him.
Also if you want more info on our Chapter including meet chapter members who fly fish for them and regularly attend chapter meetings...shoot me a PM and I'll letcha know when next meeting is and where.
Enjoy the magazine read...great info and the Chapter 65 Mountain West Muskie debut...up and growing through education on this finned species.

they're both stubborn as a mule!! early season would be your best chance at getting one on the fly ,when they are shallow relating to cover that is way up the shoreline by this time of year..
