Took the day off and accepted a fishing invite from John. Launched from HBSP at dawn and ran across the river to a grass pocket. The topwater bite was NONEXISTANT. We tried Sammys, Whopper Ploppers, and Ribbits. That all star lineup didn't impress the fish. No luck on crankbaits, or swimbaits either. Picked up the only lure that's delivered consistently the last few months. A Texas Rigged Zoom Trick Worm in the Red Bug color. We fished deeper grass (10 feet) and grass edges. We caught around 20 with 5 keepers (including a fat spot) with a bunch of board fish. Water temps were in the low 80s with very little wind.
