Well didn't fish last weekend cause I was doing the only thing better...........enjoying my Honeymoon in Wendover [Wink]. Had to work half a day Overtime yesterday, but weather was so nice decided to do a recon run up to the Bear River Bird Refuge. I was advised to take the Forrest St. exit off I-15 and head west, but I don't remember if that person said how far west...........[:/] Anyway, I drove to where the paved road ends at a big barn looking thing, and the river seems to be split in a couple directions. Pulled into the parking area and saw a vault toilet (that's a good sign) and the railing along the river edge. Walked around the area a bit, saw the signs "No [fishin]beyond this point". So set up at the railing with a couple poles and some worms. Had several quick tugs before something actually hooked itself. A small cat. Then 4 or 5 more just like it the next hour or so. Didn't photo any of the rest. Packed up and headed out. Saw the sign saying "Auto Tour" so figured "what the hey" I turned down that road and soon wish I hadn't. I didn't know it was a one way gravel road all the way around the duck hunting area. May that was a long dusty drive, and couldn't even fish anywhere along that road.[:/]
But now I know what's out there. Saw a few spots along the road back to I-15 that looked like possibles. Try them out some other day when I have the whole day.

[frown] OK, Willard today. SKUNKED [mad] Went out from the North marina. If you don't already know, the flush toilets at the north end are closed for the season, but the vault toilets are open, and well stocked, today anyway. Still plenty of water in the marina and the lake. Half the ramp is closed off with orange stantions. Looks as if the cleaning station is still open. At least it wasn't bagged. Was a beautiful day on the water, but no fish, not a nibble. Think I'll try the south end tomorrow.

Congratulations Forest,- On your wedding.

That is a long way to the refuge and a slow long tour. I have been there many times, just not to fish. Glad you were able to at least catch a couple for your time.

I found those signs around Farmington Bay "no fishing" does anyone know why? Just west on bountiful pond on the canals no fishing. Who cares if someone fishes there? My grandson wanted to after a slow day for ducks.

Wait...honeymoon?

Well, dayum, man. Can't you get enough of things that smell like fish?

(Be sure to bring to the new missus to the next get-together, my friend. I call dibs on a hug and a kiss.)

You found it! closer to the gate from where you were at is a good spot. worms will only get you the little guys or a carp out there. next time try carp meat. another spot is just across the bridge in the channel running in the same way. the channel running north has a few fish I gotten 3 out of it. the big pool before the gates can also be good spot.
the water looked slow they must of shut the gates.
I've been under the weather again so have not been out this past week.
glad you found the refuge and congrats on the marriage, hope the new bride enjoys fishing. My little woman doesn't but as long as she lets me go I wont have to call my lawyer. [bobhappy]

I don't know what you mean. I mean, she's an angler, too, right?

[#0000FF]Congrats on the new family status. Hope you are both happy with the new opportunities...and challenges. I extend my fellow fisherman's blessing upon you.

TubeBabe is my third try at "awful wedded bliss". It is either still working after 37 years or we have both decided to try to outlive the other one.

I kinda like the old joke about the 90 year old man getting married for the fifth time. His 50 year old grandson asked him "Grandpa, why are you getting married again? You have been divorced twice and outlived two others. Ain't you had enough wives?

To which the old boy replied...with a tWinkle in his eye "Well, I tell ya boy. Fer the small amount they eat I wouldn't be without one."

After this next week's finish on Utah Lake I will be spending some more time on Willard. I'd kinda like to try for some of those big perch again this year. And maybe a few late crappies and walleyes.

OK, I wasn't sure. But thanks for the directions. Worms were all I had with me. If I had caught a Carp, I would have cut it up for bait. I will have to make another trip or 2 out there before the bad weather sets in.

Yes the new bride likes to fish. Doesn't like to eat fish or seafood of any kind, but enjoys fishing. She was the partner with me on 27 Aug when I had my best day ever on Willard.

Sorry you haven't been feeling well, hope for a quick recovery.

Thanks Pat. This is # 4. But kinda not really. She was # 2 also. Long story. The #3 was the real %^&*(&^%$##%&* !!!!!!
Should of hit WB today. Weather was PERFECT, the company was perfect (no, wife had to work. Company was a whole passel of fishermen in boats going slow and being downright friendly). And I gave that ugly skunk from yesterday the heave-ho.......

Have fun and good luck on both UL and WB.
