Went fishing Friday and there were only two small docks left in the water at the main marina. Could get crowded during busy times.

Still a lot of algae floating around.

Water temp near the surface in low 50s.

Fishing was great, catching was on the slow side. Talked to a few groups that did well and others got the skunk.

Fun to see a few orange fish still swimming around in the lake.

Off topic but I'm thinking about ice fishing and was wondering if there was a way to open up more parking this winter. There is the little picnic area really close to the main parking lot. Or some of the camping loops. Even if it was one way with parking on one side and the other side of the road was thru traffic. Weekends and holidays it gets hard to find a place to park with a trailer. And maybe not let the scouts camp right in the parking lot.

I agree, I hope the state parks and federal people plan ahead for parking space for winter fishing. Need rest rooms too. Rest rooms at strewberry along the main road have not been good.

I would be very surprised if the USFS is picking up any of that tab, and AL&L does not operate there during the winter."[/#800000]

[#000000]You are right about the USFS not picking up the tab, even though they should be contributing to the cost. It is a combination of the Strawberry Bay Marina, State Parks, and the DWR that fund the snow removal at Strawberry. This combination of funding has been going on for several years now since AL&L stopped operating during the winter.[/#000000]

strawberry has a very bad parking problem . on a normal snow years strawberry has a lot of snowmobiler's and when you combine that with fishermen there have been many many days where we could not find a spot. sometimes we would have to park snowmobile trailers pretty far down the marina road on both sides of the road. the dwr started ticketing people for parking on the road and opened a smaller lot down by the permanent docks below the road that has helped a little . also they stopped plowing out parking by the pay booth where the road ends in the winter. if we get normal snow there will be lots of parking issues.

Didn't want to come across as complaining just offering a suggestion to help with parking on those busy weekend days.
I'm lucky to be able to fish mid week and enjoy the empty parking lots and only a few fellow fisherman out on the ice.
On the weekends when the family comes along we get there later in the morning and have found parking lots pretty filled up.

Maybe they could open a camping loop where you have to pay to park in that loop? Pay for the cost to plow and free up space.?
