77-88 feet with a few around 111 feet is where I caught most of mine over the weekend, ironically I had better luck Friday when it was windy and choppy than Saturday when it was like glass, go figure.

I will also be on the Gorge Friday and Saturday...probably jigging or trolling over by swim beach...I will be in my big red.

How is the water, is it turning over now or has it already? Is the laker spawn on yet? I am headed up Sunday.

Please help refresh my memory:
I am also headed to the Gorge thurs night or friday morning.
I was in Deer Creek 3 weeks ago but got de-con'd and have my paperwork.
I have my current Wyoming AIS sticker.
I will be launching at Lucerne.
I will stop at Evanston for inspection but doubting it will be open thursday night.
Can I get hammered by driving through Evanston if the inspection station there is closed?

We fished the Gorge earlier this year and went thru Evanston at like 4:30 am so we went straight to the lake and got inspected at Anvil Draw. No problems at all.

Excellent, thanks!

Surface temps were still 57-59 degrees, so it may be a few weeks before it turns. And yes they have started spawning, one of the pups I kept seeped out mature eggs from the back of the boat up to the cooler and one of the males was seeping semen all over my net.

Thanks for the heads up! Boat cleaning time will come in mid-November after the mess of the Gorge is done unto my boat from spawning lakers. I try not to handle them but sometimes you just cant help it.

Live from Flaming George. Absolutely the best weather I have ever had here, beautiful day. No W. The fishing was great but the catching not so good. Marked lots of fish in Lynnwood bay but couldn't find any takers. Water Temps 53f at noon. Had it not been for a small Rainbow that was realed in by my 7 year old granddaughter my boat would still smell of skunk. The fish was released to grow up and fight another day. Hopefully the fishing will improve and I will learn a thing or two..

Try over by stateline, I caught 7 pups trolling over there last Friday.

What the heck happened?

We also fished HARD this past Friday and Saturday!
The boats are PILED up on the mounds in Linwood and I can verify it's loaded with fish but what we found is they have LOCKJAW when the boats are on them heavy! If we fished the out side edge still showing fish but less boat traffic we would hook up! I also noticed slower speeds with big tackle produced BIG fish. If you want pups use small spoons and troll 2.0mph. Also, Swim beach provided but did not graph near the fish.......
Good luck to all!

Was up at the gorge this week as well is anybody can tell me what the heck everybody is jigging with it would be in there debt a few boats hookup rate was about 8 to 1 of mine and they were only 50 feet away they said it was a homemade jig
[signature]
Were they hooking them in the mouth? One of the "homemade" jigs this time of year includes an oversized treble hook.[mad]

Its amazing how those " home made lures" work so good this time of year, I spent alot of time and effort trying to figure out how they catch lakers so easy , till I finally asked a "fisherman" next to me who was pulling up 20+ pound fish . He had a lure with a enormous treble hook, using fast vertical rips, trying to hook them in the "mouth area". What a shame..............

So If I understand this correctly, Flaming Gorge has the snag fest in the fall. Willard Bay has the snag fest in the spring. Where can I find a snag fest in the summer and winter time?

I was fishing there Friday. I use that home made lure and know the guy that makes it. It works well and 9 out of 10 fish strike it and are caught on the inside of the mouth. I think they are striking out of anger. When there are many hundreds of fish balled up down there any rig could snag a fish. I don't use this lure hoping to snag a fish and I know the guy that made them that is a very talented fisherman is not there to snag fish. I snagged 1 ling two years ago and one pup this year and all other fish which are many in the mouth. If it is just snagging why does the bite slow down to nothing about 11am but the screen is still covered with fish?

Here is my question???
When did the regs change that you can fish Linwood all night long???
As we left the bay at sundown Friday night 10/14 2 Large Blue "Tolly Craft" boats pulled in on top of the mound in Linwood they hooked the boats together and began the EXTREME jigging! Ripping the lure hard on the upward stroke....... LOL
At first light we headed back out as they were headed in??? It sure pisses a guy of trying to do things right when guys are raping and pillaging!!!
If I was confident the regs had not been changed I would have called it in.......
