I know Idaho has used them in some lakes that had Kokanee that were stunted from over population, Thinking of porcupine. And of corse having a chance to hook into a well fed chinook[bob

yes.
Fish Lake has had numerous non-native trout and salmon stocked in it. Atlantic salmon in 1924. Chinook in 1925, coho in 1926, and chum in 1939. I've attached a report that includes this information (page 1 "Introduction").
today, kokanee are being stocked. The DWR is hoping for some natural recruitment, but will supplement with additional annual stocking as need to attempt to sustain a kokanee fishery.

I believe both Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake have had multiple salmon species stocked within them as well.
