I want to take my kids crawdad fishing for fall break tomorrow. Is this a good time of the year to catch crayfish? Are they active? I think we will be trying Strawberry. Does anyone know if Strawberry is a good spot or some other place would be better within an hour drive time of the Ogden area. It has been a long time since I have done this. THANKS

Strawberry will be your best bet. i know as the weather cools down they get less active but ill bet you can find a few. Look for a rocky shore line that doesn't have too many weeds. we caught a bunch of them earlier this year near the soldier creek boat ramp. we just tool a chicken thigh and tied it to a string and that seamed to do the trick. A net is very helpful because they tend to let go as soon as they get out of the water.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum.... I had a minnow trap out the other day and it came back full of crawfish... so I think they are still active... Good luck... J

We had a lot of fun with crawdads on the Soldier Creek side just past the boat ramp about half mile along that shore line. Hotdogs worked great. Tied a string to a little piece of cheese cloth type net with the hotdog inside. Then gently pull it up and carefully slide your net under and presto! Kids had fun
