hoping to catch some Crappie and Perch, any advice on the depths and area for the Crappie?

Welcome to the forum, I think there will be a few on here that can get you some good info to help you out... I'm hoping to go this week myself and see if I can catch a few.. I'll try to pass on some info the night before you go, if I have anything worth offering... Later J

last week I caught a few of each in the narrows. I was using a kastmaster right on the bottom. Once the wind picked up it was hard for me to keep it there and I stopped catching them.

I was thinking on hitting Pine View probably close to the dam in approx. 50 ft water? Does that sound right and maybe tipping with a small worm on a crappie jig? thx

[#0000FF]If you will be fishing from a boat...with sonar...you can find crappies stacked up anywhere from 30 - 55 feet deep. It is good to fish with either a tandem jig rig, with a heavier jig on the bottom, or a dropshot rig. You need to get down deep...fast...and be able to feel the sometimes light bites.
Small tube jigs or crappie jigs tipped with worm, meal worm or small Gulp minnows will all produce. Start by dropping to the bottom and then slowly raising your jig(s) a few inches at a time and pausing. The bite will often be on the pause. You have to watch your rod tip and your line to detect any "change in the force". Sometimes they will hit harder and pull down. Often they just suck it in or hit upward. You can miss a lot of bites if you are not tuned in.
You can't fish all the way down to the dam. There is a buoy line running across the channel beyond which no boats are allowed. But there is good fishing almost all along the last hundred yards or so of the shoreline...just out in water deep enough to hold the fish. You have to look for them but once you find them you can usually catch a few.
