Just thought you all might find this picture I took today interesting, and Saddening.....
This is the headwaters of the Jordan River at the north end of Utah Lake.
On the left side is the 'pumps', used to pull water out of the lake.
On the right, but hidden in the curve, are the 'gates' used to allow water to flow freely out of the lake.
Currently all the water you see is naturally occurring spring water.
If you look carefully, not a drop of water is leaving the lake.

Not sure why this picture is Saddening, unless you are stating that even if the 'gates' were opened that no water would be flowing from Utah Lake. Otherwise, it is good news that all remaining water is being left in Utah Lake.

You must not fish for the browns and walleye in the Jordan River?
That is why it is Saddening. If winter hits hard and there is not enough flow in the river, a winterkill is sure to happen.

You are correct I do not. Do they not typically shut off the gates this time of year? Also, won't the fish be fine with the flow from the various streams?

Gate settings are determined by supply and demand. About 5 years ago the gates were wide open all winter long, that was a crazy amount of water!
I fish the West Jordan area, not many streams entering the river above Gardeners Mill where I like to fish.
Crossing my fingers all is going to be okay.

Browns??!!

Not consistent but they are in there. They come down from the Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon Creek's and get into the river.
