Nice sunny day today so I took a ride out to Lincoln Beach to see if there was any water, ice, or fishing. Some slushy ice on the south end that might hold the weight of a seagull. Surprised to see 15-20 guys fishing the open water at the first spring outlet. The usual Asian guys and others were there with their buckets and coolers catching white bass consistently. I did not walk out to see what they were using for bait but I would imagine any smallish jig tipped with a piece of crawler would work. Most of them were using a bobber with a lure/bait on about 3 ft. of leader.
The ice fishing there hasn't even started yet but the whities are being hammered pretty good already. I make no judgement about the guys catching them by the buckets full but I would kinda like to see the whities recover a bit from the very poor hatch last spring.
Nice day. Temp at noon when I was there was a balmy 43 degrees. Probably not too much longer before the lake ices up. The water in the channel is up a few inches.
More snow, please!
