It's to far for me to go to Cascade (5 1/2 hrs from Idaho Falls) for a day trip. What kind of accomadations are there for overnight? Is it mostly a perch lake?

World class perch and average trout. Ice Fishing is a big deal in cascade, you find everything you need hotels, condos, dining, bait shops, equipment rentals and guides.

Thanks for the info. May try to get their this winter between the kokanee fishing at Ririe.

Is the ice fit for ATV/Snowmobiles?

When I was there on Friday it wasn't ready but it sounds good now. At Poison the problem will be from the parking lot to the ice unless the snowmobilers have packed down a trail. Need to knock out a deer tomorrow so I can go fishing Thursday.

I'm taking a trip up in mid-January for my first time, been trying to learn the lay of the land as well as I can ahead of time, but I'm still not that great of a fisherman, but I love to fish... I've went a little nutz buying gear and trying to get ready for the trip... I have a snowmobile I was planning on bringing up to help get me and the gear onto the ice, will be staying at Birch glen in Cascade, but was curious which areas to focus on for fishing (initial thought is Sugarloaf area) and how best to get there on a snowmobile... Do you ride sleds from your motel to the lake, or do you trailer your sleds up to parking lots along the lake and go from there? How does that work best? Looking on the map I'm pretty sure the scale of how big that lake is isn't setting in so I could use some pointers from you guys that know... Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated... Thanks J

Looking for a place to stay in and around cascade lake. Told there is a place that they have a fish cleaning station. Anyone tell me what motel this is?

Me and my brother are planning on going January 18 thru 23 . If you are there the same time we could fish together . We have never been there before .

Hey Curt that would have been fun but I'm afraid I'll just miss you. I'll try to post up how we did so you have an idea where to try. It's a big pond and pretty intimidating to take on as a first timer. I think of Bear Lake and wonder where I would try there as a first timer knowing how few areas are very good there and it makes me hope I get lucky. But I'm sure there will be folks there ahead of me leaving tracks. Anyway thanks for the kind offer. Later J
