A couple of us hit up Scofield the last few days and did very well! Fishing the dam arm, the ice was anywhere from 5"-8" with a soft layer of ice on top. First step onto the ice I thought I was going through it was so soft, but only went down a couple of inches and hit solid ice. Was a pucker moment for sure. Ended up fishing from sunrise until about 1pm. We ended up catching about 60 chubs and another 40 small cutts. Mainly caught them on small lures(Pink Ratfinki was the best) all tipped with night crawlers. Fish would come in waves and when they came it usually didn't matter what you had down the hole as long as it was tipped with a nc. Most of our fish were caught in 12'-14' FOW but did catch a few at 7'-8'. Very light bite, without a strike indicator it was very hard to even see or feel the bite. When we saw them come in on radar a little jigging enticed them to bite. Take the kids up and have a riot catching some fish!

Is accessing the ice difficult? Where is the best place to access it? I'd like to take the kids next week but have never fished this water before. Thanks![reply][/reply]

No it wasn't difficult to access at all. We parked on the far side of the dam arm and walked right down to the ice. There's a path down through the trees.

I did the same thing that spingmaster21 described. Plenty of room to park in that area and there is a well trodden path down to the ice. We had similar results but got way more chubs than trout. The trout were skinny and snake-like as usual. The chubs were plentiful and willing to hit anything with a small chunk of crawler on it. Smaller worked better but my son landed quite a few on a 1/8 ounce spoon tipped with a small piece of crawler.
