As of a week ago there was no ice at that pond. I'm chomping to get out and try it too. If the forecast holds up, I would expect it to cap by this weekend and may have fishable ice by Jan. 13/14. Don't count on any walleye, perch or crappie of any decent size yet, but trout are big enough to be funl.

I spoke with Natalie (DWR fisheries) last week and she told me that the 520 wipers that were stocked at 9.82" are now in the 15" range. The 26,331 wipers that were stocked at 1.54" are now in the 6" range. They are growing well so far.

Like was said earlier everything is doing great. I personally would wait till next year as the actual amount on fish in there is still pretty low.

It's kind of irritating, but the stocking report for 2016 isn't terribly accurate so there are a lot more fish in there than it appears. There are at least 25,790 tiger trout that are in the 15" range; there was also a substantial stocking of rainbows (I think at least 10,000) and cutthroat trout (many thousand) which should all be decent catchable size. The stocking report doesn't mention anything about yellow perch or black crappie which are also in there, but aren't yet big enough to be of any interest. If you're interested in trout, go get 'em. Anything else, you'll have to wait awhile.
I've now heard it's capped now, but have no idea how thick. I may try it next weekend. At 2:00 pm it's only 4 degrees at my house in Vernal, so I think it's building some good ice up there.
