I've had 'em all! And right now, I have the best of both worlds. Check out Mercury Optimax. (No, I'm not sponsored in any way!) Its as quiet as a 4 stroke, gets unbelievable fuel economy, starts just when I look at it[Wink], weighs less than a 4-stroke, and runs as clean as most 4-strokes. It far exceeds EPA standards set for well into the future. You also have the "hole-shot" power and efficiency of a 2-stroke.

The only drawback is that I do have to add expensive Optimax oil into the reservoir, which a 4 stroke doesn't require. But I love it!

And as was mentioned, the new E-techs are the same way. Quiet, very clean, efficient, and so far--reliable.

These new 2-strokes will not be banned because they're dirty. Most are as clean as 4-strokes.
