Strawberry Snow - MRJ - 02-06-2004 Couple of questions. First, how much snow is on the ice and can you still navigate with a 4-wheeler there. Also, how do the springs affect the ice thickness. I fish around a couple of springs that are about 20' deep in the summer with good luck and want to try it there next week. This late in the year is there any danger of going through? Don't worry about falling through until warm weather returns in april... but practice caution though for commonsense. I just wouldn't get right next to the shore cause thats where the thin ice would be if any! I would suggest calling the ranger station in Heber and asking them . Fishing the springs can be very productive any time of the year. Every year there are snowmobiles that go thru the ice at the berry above warmsprings that have made the ice soft. My uncle went thru 15 inches of ice at the berry one year on a cold day. Just a little advice: use caution. John [signature] |
