Starvation - Salerutus/Knight Hollow - gofish435 - 06-07-2017
I fished Starvation again today from my tube from 6:30 until 2:30 in the Salerutus Wash/Knight Hollow area. I haven't fished there since November so I thought it was worth a try. I used the same medium sinking line and buggers and leeches in sizes 6 & 8. I fished mostly in 10' - 18' FOW. The first fish of the day was an 11 1/2 pound carp. This was my new personal best for that fine species. Latter in the day I would pick up another bugle mouth beauty that weighed in at 20 lbs. 11 oz., another new personal best. I know there are some bigger ones in there but I don't want any part of them. My twenty-two year old 6 weight fly rod was not happy with either one of them. The rest of the fish were split evenly between smallmouth and rainbows. No walleye or browns today. There are a lot more carp in this area than anywhere else I've fished on Starvy and the way they were scampering around near shore and in the willows there are about to be some more of them.[:/]
The surface water temperature was 62-71 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 5'. The reservoir level is almost 88% full and rising.
Another fun day on the water even with the carp.[

Sounds like the carp gave you a fun time, too bad they were carp. Could have been worse, six weight could have given up.

It's disappointing when you hook a big fish and when it comes up to show itself it's a carp.[:/]
It takes valuable time away from catching decent fish.[
