How much fuel for a week at Deadwood? - idfisher - 06-14-2017 I just got a new (to me) boat. it has a 60 HP 2 stroke Johnson and a 8 HP 2 Stroke kicker. I'll be spending a week at deadwood in July and i'm just trying to figure out how much fuel I should plan on bringing. I plan on being on the water fishing the majority of the time. Any advice you guys with similar setups can give me would be much appreciated. Take all your fuel 2. Buy some at the lodge (very expensive, around $6/gal I believe) I'd try to take all I thought I'd need. I would expect about 7-9 gallons for the kicker would be about right, assuming you use it only for trolling. Then I would figure about 5-10 gallons per day for the big motor, but that would depend largely on how many times you run back and forth from camp to fishing locations and how far you camp from where you are finding fish. I have a 15 HP motor on a small boat. I always take 2, 3.5 gallon tanks for a 3 day and never use it all. But I have come close a couple times. If you don't have enough, you can always pay the high price at the lodge....... We usually fish within 1-2 miles of camp so it doesn't take real long to get there but we might make a couple trips in and out each day. Thanks for your input, I'll be sure to bring more fuel than I was originally anticipating. HnH - i think we chatted on here about Deadwood last year. When will you be going? We're planning on being there the 15th-23rd of July. [signature] Re: [idfisher] How much fuel for a week at Deadwood? - hooknhunter - 06-15-2017 I'd be there right now if the road was open. I contacted the outfitter about a week ago. He said the road through Bruce Meadows was nearly open, but then it washed out in 2 places. Hard to say when it will be accessible, but intend to go ASAP once it is...... And as many times as I can fit in after. I love that place, even when the fishing isn't good....... That road was beyond horrible last year. In one trip I lost a recently replaced trailer bunk, a recessed trailer light, spare tire carrier tore the metal and it was barely hanging on the trailer, bow roller one of the metal tabs snapped, all kinds of rails and cleats rattled loose, travel trailer mirror ripped off wall, bathroom door ( yes it was strapped) hinge ripped out of ceiling, and we talked to others with similar stories. One guy in a travel trailer had his in counter microwave come out and damaged his floor and wrecked the microwave. That road can be decent or terrible week to week depending on weather and traffic. I have been up there in years past and it was no where near that bad. [signature] |
