2017 Willard Trip #14 - Tin-Can - 06-18-2017

Was given some new lures for Fathers Day so had to at least go get them wet. 6:43 A.M. Headed out from the south marina, water just a bit choppy, but no bugs. Headed towards island with intent to angle west from there toward the light pole. Chop on the water from the north made me change my mind around the top end of the island, and head south-west with wind behind me. Took less than an hour to hook up a Walleye. Not huge, and not much of a fight, but he broke my 13 trip skunk on Willard, and he is gonna taste real good pretty soon. [Smile]

We were out there Saturday and fished from the light pole down along the north dike and picked up five wipers, two walleye, and lost a few on the way in.

Was trolling blue and silver rattle traps going 2.5-3.5 MPH. Most of the fish hit on the planer boards. There was somebody out in there Thunder Jet boat that was knocking the snot out of them.

Nice catch ! Maybe I will have to get the old Blue and chrome Rattle Traps back out. Haven't had any luck with them so far this year. Maybe next week while I'm on leave. Heading to Utah Lake tomorrow for a couple days. Wife and I are gonna try and poach one of BLK's big Cats [sly]

Thunder Jet? Might have been ReelFast. He passed us on the freeway Sat. morning while we were heading out for breakfast.

One of the new lures wife got me, a Blue and silver Bill Lewis Rattle Trap HUGE ! 4" long, weighs a ton [:/]

Our top producer for bites were the Rapala Rattle-n-raps. One was just blue/silver and the other had an orange belly on it. The first two fish of the day were caught on the Cotton Cordell traps that you can find at some Wal Marts.

Good luck with the kitty trip.

made it to Willard Saturday afternoon, was really nice to have a breeze to keep the bugs down, boated a couple wipers one small one pretty decent, released both, sonar showed quite a few fish, mostly around 17 FOW went our Sunday morning for a quick trip and boated one pretty good walleye, released it, had another hit that broke the hook off a rapala, mangled the split ring and the treble hook was just gone, left as the power squadron was showing up. Was good to be back on the water, even if the catching is slow compared to last year.
