Dropshot, CFF #10, Bass, 8/25/17, Copyman - FishNews - 09-03-2017 We started CFF #10 running down river to where we hoped to start with some topwater action and move from there. Got to the first spot and in a few minutes Dusty caught our first keeper fish on a shallow crankbait, and followed it up with a fish on a swim jig. Shortly after that I caught our first topwater fish on a Whop-Plop and before it got dark caught two more. That helped put our second keeper in the boat. After dark, I finally found some fish a little larger with a large spinnerbait slow rolling through the grass, but nowhere close to what we were looking for. For the 21 fish we boated, two were 2.5 pounds, 1 was a large catfish, one a large bluegill, and the other 17 all seemed to be between 1.8 and 2.1 pounds. We culled ounces several times before we simply ran out of time. We caught fish on worms, ned, crankbait, topwater, jig, and spinnerbait. Fish caught in variety of depths from 2 feet to 15 fow. Had a slow brutal ride back with the wind and current beating us to death, and made it back with 2-3 minutes to spare. Congrats to those who found the big fish and Matt/Oscar on the win. |
