Lake chart suggestions - kyleval19 - 12-28-2017

I have some Christmas money I need to burn so I'm looking at lake charts and was wondering if any of you UTAH fishers have any suggestions on what to buy. I have a humminbird helix 5 which is compatable with Navionics and lakemaster charts. Any opinions here would be great

We have both map chips I personally like Navionics way more detail for where I Fish. I’ve been told the Lakemaster is really good for Flaming Gorge. I believe each are good. If you go to the Navionics website you can actually see the maps. Lakemaster you can’t.

I’ve been told Garmin has bought out or in the process of buying out Navionics if so it will only get better.

[#800000]I bought the Navionics chip on sale at Cabelas for $180 a couple years ago and renew it each year at $100. Worth every penny - IMHO. I have no clue about Lakemaster.[/#]

I have the Lakemaster chip in my Helix 10. I've been scouting out lakes on the chart in my.garage. it's very good for Pineview (HD) and average for most other big reservoirs in Utah. Let me know what specific places you're interested in and I'll post some pics of the charts here.

Note: if you have any intention to run iPilot Link in your future, you'll lose some of that functionality with Navionics (follow contour, offset, etc). Not a huge deal for most.

Lemme know what lake you wanna see on Lakemaster.

The lakes I frequent most are fish lake, deer Creek, starvation, strawberry, and echo. Also if you have the Wyoming region could you post buffalo bill reservoir. Thank you for your help.

Here ya go. The pictures are zoomed in enough to show depth contours. I took pictures of some of the more popular areas. Strawberry, Starvation, Deer Creek and Echo are all what Humminbird considers "standard definition" charts. Fish Lake and Buffalo Bill Reservoir are not mapped on Lakemaster.

Another thing you can check out is the Navionics app for your phone. I think it's $10 and it uses your GPS. I don't think you can mark waypoints, so you do lose some functionality. It looks like both Fish Lake and Buffalo Bill have SD mapping on there.

Does your chip cover C.J. Strike as just a standard lake?

your lake master maps of Strawberry look better mine I have both Navionics and lakemaster charts and lakemaster charts

they are older I think I paid about $125

I use lakemaster the most but that is because I have a humminbird fishfinder
but Navionics has better contours.
I think you can get Navionics app for your phone free for 30 days

3 snapshots I had saved on my PC of strawberry
if you want anything else give me the GPS coordinates
and I can get in my boat and get them for both Navionics and lakemaster

this is free on your PC

Yes, but I haven't fished it with my Lakemaster chip. Just with the Navionics app on my phone.

Thanks, I was hoping for a more detailed contour lines on the Lakeview chart than this one.

Re: [BURLEY] Lake chart suggestions - MichiganAngler - 12-29-2017

Yeah man. I think versatility is the key. I run the Humminbird Lakemaster on my Helix 10 on the boat and augment it with the Navionics app on my cell phone as a backup for a few places.

I'll shoot ya a PM in another month or so for some intel if you don't mind. I try to make a late Feb or early March trip to CJ every year to put some perch in the freezer. I've got a good buddy that lives in Grandview that lets me crash there. CJ Strike is the only body of water that I've ever caught 7 species of fish in one day on. Love that place.

Sounds good to me. I like perch. The reason I'm asking about the detailed contour lines is to locate holes for sturgeon fishing. The Navionics doesn't seem to be detailed enough for C.J. to Loveridge Bridge to satisfy my wants. I'll keep my calendar open.
