Scofield ice? - element - 02-09-2018

Anyone been to Scofield this week? I was wondering how thick the ice is and if its safe.

I went up there yesterday. Fishing the channel by the main body. Ice was 14". The lake is rising, so the edges were soft water. It was froze when I got there at 6 am, but broke through coming back in around noon. The air temp was 41 then

How long a plank you think one would need to get on without taking a short swim?

Thank you for the report. The dam arm had 14 inches on Saturday, fishing was good. Cutt-throats were biting. Made for a fun day. Edges froze up for us. Snowmobiles were crossing the lake. Plenty of hard deck.

No planks needed for us on Saturday. Even at 330pm the recent storm brought in cold wind.

Thanks for that! Never fished there before but thinking we might give it a go this week. Solid edges sure make it a little more appealing.
