Custom rods or main manufacturer's? Custom, jim William's now outsources his to a guy in Idaho I think he said on another post. 45" custom lake trout rod. I own 3 of jim Williams rods. Thorn bros makes a variety of lengths up to 48" for lakers. I use a dave gentz 36" split handle MH gor bubot. There are a ton of laker ice rods out there. I’ve been building rods for over 30 years now. [signature] Re: [Honkin] Ice Rod - RockyRaab - 12-29-2018 Remember: Unless you're fishing inside a shack, your summer rod will work. [signature] Re: [RockyRaab] Ice Rod - catchinon - 12-30-2018 Good point. I often use a 4'6" ultralight for other fish. Not saying it's ideal for macks but the length works fine on the ice. [signature] Re: [Honkin] Ice Rod - nofish2 - 12-31-2018 I also build mack jigging rods they are about 50" long and will handle anything from the Gorge. I spiral wrap the guides and build on a upper end blank. I live in the Ogden area and would be happy to show them to you. [signature] |
