Chowan River Trips. - gdn443 - 06-03-2019
T dog and myself got on the water at 9. Found nothing in the shallow water like 10 days ago, so with water temp at 80 I headed out to the outer channel and found some action on drop offs from Lily pads. All in 10-12 ft. Got three bass and a pickerel. My first here in the south. Largest bass only went to 2 1/2 lb., but what a great day to be on the water . I'll be heading back on Friday for sure. Watermelon with multi flake worked well today.

Sounds like you found that new home water you were looking for last year. Do they have crappie there in that river.

Yes they do, but I'm not a crappie guy. LOL. One fella I met up with said he had 34 last week but nothing today.

Really, you don't know what your missing my friend. With smaller fish like crappie, perch or bluegill we like to make fish tacos with them, yum.

Something told me to stay home and I should have . Water was chocolate with 4 days of rain, cold front moved in with blue bird skys. Wind picked up as well even in the coves. No bites at all. Only stayed for a couple of hours. See what next week does. Maybe go crabbing. [crazy] I'll post Catfish when I get this computer to upload. LOL

We fished this river last Thursday. Got a couple of dink bass and stopped to find a hole. caught two small blue cats in it. Heat is quite high now with 100 plus heat index. We will try Wednesday in the swamp off the Roanoke to stay cool. Blue crabs on my list for the week after. Always cooler on the shore.

Good to hear you caught a few fish but it sounds like the temps there are brutal, is that because of the humidity? What was the actual temp?
