Lost Creek 7/31 - Jig-fisher - 08-01-2020 I went up to Lost Creek this evening. I had not been up since ice fishing and had not heard any reports. I launched around 4:30 and fished until dark. Found the fish between 25' and 40' and they were active. I did not count the number of fish I caught but it was steady, probably around 20-25 or so. I had 3 doubles. I caught some of them on koke gear, they wanted the sling blade style over the standard dodger. I also caught more and bigger fish pulling rapalas and flicker shad. All the ones in the slot came on the minnow lures. The fish were nice and healthy. Came across several big bait balls, one was so thick my finder picked them up as a false bottom. Here's a few pictures. I've always liked Lost Creek and it was a great evening on the water. RE: Lost Creek 7/31 - wiperhunter2 - 08-01-2020 Great report, haven't heard one that good this year. Were there many other folks out there trolling? From you pics it looks like you caught at least one bow, did you catch any more? In years past, when we want chubs for bait, we would drop down to those bait balls with a small bait hook, size 14 and a tiny piece of worm and catch as many as we want. RE: Lost Creek 7/31 - Jig-fisher - 08-01-2020 There were only a couple of boats, only 4 trailers in the lot when I arrived, including mine. I caught about 1/2 bows and 1/2 cutts. The bows were shallower for the most part in the 25 ft range. That is great idea for the chubs. I didn't have any worms with me but will have to be next time. We have mainly been using the chubs we caught there for Willard but I think they would also work at Bear lake, if you were jigging there. |
