Weber humbling - MWScott72 - 07-18-2024 Had a few hours to kill after work last Tuesday, so decided to take advantage since I was already in the area. I haven’t broke out the fly rod in awhile, so decided to give it a whirl. Fished a couple hours right below Rockport and got a big, fat goose egg. No hits, no bumps, no takes…nothing. Decided to move down a bit and fished a stretch between RP and Echo. Same results. A couple hours later and after fishing several nice looking holes, not much to show for it. I did have one potential fish on, but it came off quick. There was a caddis looking hatch toward evening, but no fish rising. I mainly fished a tandem Provo bounce rig. Prince nymph, sow bugs, hares ear, WD 40s…they didn’t want any of it. It was a beautiful afternoon/evening though and had a good time on the water. Good thing we’re headed to the Greys in a week. I know how to catch fish on that river! RE: Weber humbling - Cowboypirate - 07-18-2024 You are not alone in struggles on the Weber. Had similar reports from some friends. I did hear of some action early morning some small rapalas RE: Weber humbling - Browntrout - 07-22-2024 The Middle Weber can prove to be a very finicky fishery. Sorry you did not have more luck. The Rainbow Sow Bug has been the best fly for me on that stretch of river. RE: Weber humbling - richyd4u - 07-25-2024 The Weber can definitely give and take. Always the possibility of a great day and some big brownies! Good luck next time! |
