Rockport shore report - Cowboypirate - 11-11-2024 I was able to finish all my honey-do's early Saturday so my bride let me escape on a short adventure. Rockport was close by and the mid day sun was feeling good so I grabbed a couple ultra lights and a mix of panfish and trout gear and headed out. Fished the east side mid Lake. Could not find willing perch in cast range. I did see some boaters getting perch. Rainbows were more than willing to play with traditional bling and bait. If I would have stopped searching for perch I am sure 20 bows would have been possible but I was a stubborn fool and kept walking and casting for perch. The boaters were dragging steel and hauling them in too. Very nice afternoon break. About 4:00 things seemed to shut down so I headed home for dinner. Short video. Caught more but was not very diligent in filming them. https://youtu.be/M99bAcHuU-0?si=zIDyyB79bU8yz1OF RE: Rockport shore report - lovetofish - 11-11-2024 That's right where I always fish with my little pontoon boat. I always do quite well for perch out about 30/40 yards from shore. That's what Tubedude calls 'Perch Point'. I'd like to get out one more time this year and then hang it up until next spring. I'm torn between going to Strawberry or Rockport for my last trip. Do you and Cookie ever go to Strawberry. RE: Rockport shore report - Bduck - 11-11-2024 I've always enjoyed relaxing lazy fishing, looking for the right rock to cradle or nest in for a catnap helps too. Of all of the times I fished RP there was one time I stopped on the side of the main road next to the lake to check out some grave markers sitting on top of a little hill. Does anyone know of the history they can share with about that site? RE: Rockport shore report - BRL1 - 11-11-2024 Made it to Rockport Saturday. Hoping for Pech but with the heavy breeze that was blowing, with no spot lock it was tough to target perch. But drifting at 2 mph it made for some decent trout catching. Left about noon had caught about a dozen perch in the 8 to 10 inch range. Hopefully they put some weight on for the ice fishing season. All the trout were chunky. Lance took a heavy 19 inch home for dinner. The water skier was there fairly early. Sunday went to Strawberry, all the docks are pulled but still quit a few boats on the water. With it being only our second time fishing Strawberry and the first being on the ice. So figured the couple dozen skinny cutthroat and a few chunky rainbows wasn't a total bust for the day. Hoping to make it back to Rockport at least once before it freezes. Will definitely make several trips during the winter and maybe even 1 or 2 to Strawberry on the ice. That said, if weather cooperates we may try it Saturday. (11-11-2024, 01:30 PM)BRL1 Wrote: Made it to Rockport Saturday. Cookie has some books from the history of summit County and is checking them https://jacobbarlow.com/2020/03/20/rockport-utah/ RE: Rockport shore report - Bduck - 11-11-2024 Thanks for what history you could provide and thanks for all of those pictures.
