Flaming Gorge ice? - Kokaneeaddict88 - 01-10-2025

Planning on heading up to the gorge this weekend, I've heard mixed reports from various sources about the ice conditions.I prefer buckboard but have had good luck at lost dog and fire hole.

Has anyone been up lately? The last post was here seemed to be from New Years and I'm betting (hoping) it's probably iced up a little since then.

Thanks

Welcome to the site. Haven't seen any reports this week but the last I read, Firehole was iced up really good as was Lost Dog, haven't heard a word about Buckboard having ice.

Ended up going to fire hole, about 14" of solid ice, saw lots of marks and had a few hits but didn't manage to land any.

Hopefully this cooler weather that's supposed to come through will help freeze up more of the lake.

Thanks for the report, too bad no catching happened. I know the road is much better going to Firehole but from my experience the catching is always better there soon after the ice is safe, then the catching declines, because of all the pressure. The Lost dog area is better but of course the road going in isn't great. Hopefully your next outing is better. How far did you get out there, where you were fishing at Firehole? The last time we were there, we went around the corner on the cliff, to the south and fished within 10 to 20 yds of the cliff.
