But I will break it down and keep it simple. 3-4 1/2 feet long for panfish and certain trout from a float tube. 4-6' for the same on a pier or bank. 6 1/2-8' for LMB, Cats, Smallies, and general ocean species. 9-12' for surf fishing at the beach. It fits in well for what I go for..and I have caught about every thing on it, its a spinning rod, I have a 6'6" black beauty southbend bait casting rod I use to troll and flip stuff at bass on flaming gorge, my thought this year is to really use that baitcaster and figure out how to really use that reel on it...I am already proficient at making a birds nest that eagles try to land on while I am un-tangleing it...LOL. Open-water: A 5 1/2 foot light action and a 6 1/2 foot Ulgy Stick, now have a 6'7" baitcaster that I'm using for trolling and some actual casting... hoping to use it for LMB in the slop.
