PLUGS...Alan, thank you for this chance to win such a great rod. I hope to see you on the water someday. I'll be the guy casting from shore at Willow Beach with an awesome new rod, waving and hopefully catching the BIG ONE....Thanks Again, Heath AKA WiNtErKiLLnv _________________ Always looking for a new fishing buddy....Heath So check it out: http://acplugs.com/phpBB2/index.php [signature] Re: [WiNtErKiLLnv] I couldn't believe it. - Powermaker - 07-18-2004 Congadulations, that's quite an impressive rod. WOW, an 8' - one piece, you may have to strap that thing to the roof off your car to haul it around. Great job. Now that you've got that nice rod you can start spending money on striper lures. See this link: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/swimbaits.html Keep an eye on that AC Plug - the wood can split - see a crack - just seal it with some epoxy - not the 5 minute stuff. Don't let the lure get waterlogged - then it won't work properly and they never do dry out well. With minimum effort you can have several hundred dollars worth of goodies. Long as the credit card holds up. Then there is the matter of a reel - maybe a nice Ambasor 5500? with C4 kit and Ceramic ABEC7 Bearings? Set you back about maybe $125. here's where you upgrade your reel: http://www.heartlandtackleservice.com/ Check out ebay - sometimes you can get a good deal on those Ambasors there. I recently got one new for $50. For shore fishing I like the area downstream of the Planting Beach - where the canoes take out - follow and fish from a faint trail which goes about 1/4 to 1/2 mile downstream. Flats there with some old Salt Cedars where the trout and stripers hang out. Also couple steep walls and big rocks. The downstream end of the fishing beach is good if you can cast out far enough. At 100 ft from shore the bottom drops into 40 ft and Stripers hang out in that hole. See you on the water. Before this rod, ive been using a 9' surf casting rod. Ive got to get ahold of an "Ole Henry" handmade lure from that guy in Henderson, Ive heard good things about it...Thanks for the tips on willow beach.. [signature] |
