that is a good questioin, i have never heard of a berley before. or do you mean "Berkley artifitial soft plastics"?

that would be even a better question. Berkley makes a soft power bait now that is moldable. pinch out a bit and mold it on a number 10 hook in the shape of a salmon egg and you are good to go.

they offer a wide verieties of colors some with sparkles and other rainbow colored..

I am thinking about trying the rainbow color this year. althogh I have heard great things about charturce with sparklies.

if youre talking about catching rainbow trout the best berkley bait ive found is lemon twist. i use a bubble, swivel, and then about a 3-4 foot leader. the hook i use is a small treble. (a #18 will work good) let me know if you want further tips and maybe i can find an illustration somewhere!

if youre talking about lake trout as in macinaw, i dont know of a good berkley bait for them. good old strips of sucker meat will always work. tip a jig and go vertical, or tip a squid and troll behind a flasher. the biggest key to macs is getting your presentation down to where the fish are.
