4th Annual Clinton Clean-Up is coming! - davetclown - 09-02-2004 4th Annual Clinton Clean-Up is coming! Greetings river friends, The 4th Annual Clinton Clean-Up is only three weeks away! Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 18th and join us at one of the clean-up events planned across the watershed. This is your chance to give back to the river after enjoying it all summer long (short as it has seemed!). We currently have 8 projects lined up with several more in the works. Here is a listing of the planned events: 1. Drayton Plains Stewardship Day in Waterford Township: Help remove trash and invasive plants! Begins at 8:30 am. Contact: Erin Lavender, Oakland Land Conservancy, 248-601-2816 for information and directions. 2. Bald Mountain Stewardship Day: NOTE DATE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11. Meet at Park Headquarters at 9:00 am (1330 E. Greenshield Road, Lake Orion, MI 48360). Contact: Curt Winter, Friends of Bald Mountain Recreation Area, 248- 814-8589 or call Park Headquarters at 248-693-6767. 3. River Clean-Up in Auburn Hills: Join the City of Auburn Hills in trash and debris collection between Riverside and River Woods Parks. Begins at 9 am. Located off Squirrel Road just north of Auburn Road. Contact Shawn Keenan at 248-364-6926. 4. Rochester Hills Nature Preserve Clean-Up: Remove trash and woody debris along the Clinton River near the Rochester Hills Environmental Education Center and City Hall. Registration begins at 8:30 am, clean-up 9 am - noon. Contact: Heather Van Den Berg, CRWC, 248-601-0606. 5. Clean-up the Clinton River throughout Rochester Hills: Help remove trash and debris along the Clinton Riverbanks and Clinton River Trail near Bloomer Park. Registration begins at 8:30 am, clean-up 9 am-noon. Meet at Clinton River Trail parking lot at Second and Letica Streets east of Rochester Rd. Afternoon session, 12:30-4 pm, meet at River Bend Park north of Hamlin, east of trail off of Adams Road. East Branch of Coon Creek in Armada: Join School Section 4-H Club and the Armada Village Council to clean-up the East Branch of Coon Creek. Registration and presentation begins at 9 am, clean-up until 4 pm. Contact: Gary White at 586-469-5236. 7. MSU Extension / Master Gardeners and Macomb County Public Works Office Clinton River Spillway Bikepath Project: 8:30 am-3:30 pm in Clinton Township. Registration at 8:00, education program at 8:30, gardening and clean-up activities at 9:30. At Wellington Crescent and Harper in Clinton Township. Contact Patrice Avery, Macomb County Public Works at 586-307-8269. 8. Lower Clinton River & Lake St. Clair Clean-Up: Join the Navy Sea Cadets and the Anchor Bay Yachting Association to clean-up our recreational boating waterways.
