Don't give up on being able to throw a casting net - Kent - 11-26-2004 Some of you know of my struggles and somewhat eventual victory in learning how to throw a casting net. One part of the process I have not enjoyed is holding the net between my teeth. I have always been concerned about getting giardia or some other dreaded illness. I recently purchased a casting net thrower from Cabela's, and found that it works great and is simple to use, even with the stiff nylon casting net that I own. It cost $10.99 before shipping: [signature] Re: [kentofnsl] Don't give up on being able to throw a casting net - utwalleye - 11-26-2004 Kent, How come you have to use your teeth ??? I use to use a throw net when I lived in Hawaii and never used my teeth. I used to throw the net off a 20 foot bridge at a fish called Mullet. I had a long small rope tied around my rist to the center of the net. I also threw it from a boat. If I can remember how to throw it maybe we can get together some time and I will show you how I used it. later chuck [signature] Re: [utwalleye] Don't give up on being able to throw a casting net - Kent - 11-26-2004 Hi Chuck, that would be great -- always enjoy getting out fishing with you. You are a day late and a dollar short on the net throwing demo though, without using my teeth, because I now own the fancy net thrower. Before purchasing the fancy contraption, the way I looked at it was I could either hold the net with my teeth, or throw the net over my shoulder and get all wet before going fishing. (BTW - I also have it tied to my wrist.) Neither choice was too exciting to me.
