Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-21-2005 Got down to the old pond again yesterday night. Not so hot. Got two bites the entire time, and one of them I caught. Just another blue gill. This time there was a guy snagging LMB & bluegills. When he pulled up his stringer, he had atleast 10 fish on it. I called the warden after I saw him rip a spoon into the bass at 4:30. The warden was too late getting there. The guy pulled out an hour later, and I got a call back from the warden. He took all my info, and hopefully he'll nail that guy. [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Willow pond 1/20 - CBR - 01-21-2005 I will be hitting the pond this afternoon and will let you know how the pup action is. Glad someone called the warden. There is an old timer I see out there often that has been busted several times but doesn't learn from his first mistakes. He catches his limit and puts it in his car then returns to do the same again. If anyone sees an old timer with all white hair and a long white beard keep an eye on him. Be sure to call the warden because his next bust will lose him his license. Damn geezer-banditos.. [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-21-2005 I hear ya. I tried to get his licence plate, but the bugger had a new truck.[] I wish I had a camra with me. I guess its about time to just invest the money into it. I didn't see any big macks this time. I'm sure most of them are gone or dead. Its that people can't even keep fish like that in there. They got to go and catch them all out. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - Kent - 01-21-2005 In addition to snagging, it sounds like the guy was at least six fish over his limit. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - CBR - 01-21-2005 Oh the big ones are there. They usually show there face around 5:00 PM when the sun drops behind the mountains. Keep at em and try flipping a big spoon or big gold/copper colored lure. Super Duper or a Jakes usually does the trick for the smaller ones aswell. I have hooked some 4 pounders in there and have seen bigger ones cruising. [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Willow pond 1/20 - CBR - 01-21-2005 Have a bit of steam you need to release Pat? How about joining me this afternoon thru the eve flipping some lures for some slimers? Second best way to let out hot air. I thought you'd be back eventually, and I'm glad that you are. New vehicles have a yellow "temp tag" as we who have worked in the car business call them, and you can get the guy next time if you see him there before he gets his permenant plates, because the temp tags have a number too. Look forward to reading your giant catfish reports again this spring from the Jordan River, etc. Again, welcome back, and good fishin' to ya! [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - HeGotAway - 01-21-2005 i was at willow pond last night at the same time what part of the pond were you on? i was on the south side by the inlet chasing the blue gills we had good luck for them with a little piece of worm under a bobber. there was on older guy near the inlet in a flannel coat, is this who youre talking about? I did see the warden coming in though. he came in as we were leaving at probably 5:45 [signature] Re: [HeGotAway] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-22-2005 Yeah, that was the guy. I was fishing down a little bit with the camo fanny pack and the Farmers hat on. When I first got there he dragged up a 14" bass with a spoon buried in his tail end. He sat there casting onto the bass from there on out and trying to rip the lures into them. He left about 5:30, so that warden was only 15 minutes off. Darn! I really wish he would have gotten nailed. [signature] Re: [Out4Trout] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-22-2005 Yeah. The Beatles rock. I like have a totally new view on everything since I've started listening to them. That's actually why I'm back here, truth be told. Listening to Sgt. Peppers gets you in the forgiving mood. I tried to get a lookie at his temporary, but the back window was so tinted it was illedible. I do know it was from Karl Malone Toyota, though. I gave the warden a decent discription of his Tacoma. Could he go back to the dealer and possibly find out who this guy was atleast? Its still bugging me he got away. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - ocean - 01-22-2005 Wasnt it willow pond were they caught a couple that were poaching last year? [signature] Re: [ocean] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-22-2005 I think so. Wasn't it that they would catch a limit or two a day and stock pile them in the freezer, and when the DWR finally caught them they had like 200 trout from there. Almost forgot that I fished it earlier tonight again for about two hours. I got jack, but I did see 3 lakers and a brown get caught. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - Out4Trout - 01-22-2005 [cool]Yeah, you might be able to do that, as if it still has a temp tag it was purchased within the past two weeks. Karl Malone sells a ton of vehicles though, so maybe you could get the info, or maybe not. I don't know if it's legal for them to give that info out or not. [signature] Re: [Out4Trout] Willow pond 1/20 - actionj - 01-22-2005 Hey, I'm new to the board and have been reading for awhile but just had to join up on all the good conversation. Willow Pond is like 2 miles away from where I live so I've been there a few times with my wife. When I see people catching fish there, they usually keep more than they should and it's pretty . Hopefully they can scare off the morons because Willow has a surprising variety of fish for an Urban Pond. I didn't know there were lakers in there and last month to my surprise, I found a spot where they were hiding. In one hour I hooked into 7 lakers ranging from 17-22" I kept one and threw the rest back. I'll post a picture when I get them devloped. Rumor is that browns were planted, has anyone caught one yet or know what size browns were put in?? [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - HeGotAway - 01-23-2005 i was wearing a blue ford racing jacket and was playing with the gills in the weeds right across from you i seen the bass you mentioned im sure it probably wieghed a pound or so i wish i would have realized that guy was snagging those fish i might have confronted him about it [signature] Re: [HeGotAway] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-23-2005 He was being sneaky about it. I've seen it enough though to know what he was up to. Plus pulling up a bass with a hook in its rear made it easy to diagnos, too. I'm afraid to say it but I've seen this quite a bit over the years. Just this last year in Oregon when I quit fishing I had a guy snag a 32" ling cod that I'd been trying for for over a week.[] So when I saw that guy doing it, it peeved me off. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - HeGotAway - 01-24-2005 i guess i should learn to pay better attention to ignorrant people that can ruin my favorite local fishing hole im trying to spend more time down there (but can't, school!) i kinda feel guilty for this guy to be right next to me and not do anything [signature] Re: [HeGotAway] Willow pond 1/20 - Mc_Lennon - 01-24-2005 Its no biggie. Most people wouldn't have noticed. He'll get nailed eventually. Just too bad he left so soon or he wouldn't be fishing again for quite a while. [signature] Re: [Mc_Lennon] Willow pond 1/20 - gofish - 01-24-2005 Hey guys- I'm not new to the boards but have been away from them for a long time. Too long. This Willow Pond sounds interesting. Where is it? GoFish [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Willow pond 1/20 - gofish - 01-25-2005 Thanks Tube. I think I will have to take my kid over there sometime. Sounds interesting. "Hook'em Pretty" J.
