Need your opinion on Scents - gofish - 02-23-2005 Hey guys- I have never really been in to using scents. I think I am going to look into trying it. What is your opinion? Do you have a particular brand or "flavor" you prefer? I fish mostly for trout. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks, J. (GoFish) [signature] Re: [gofish] Need your opinion on Scents - CBR - 02-23-2005 Smelly Jelly works like a champ. You can get it in Crawfish, Crawfish/Anise, Shrimp, Shad, Salmon Egg, Anchovy, Craw Blend, Nightcrawler, Sardine, Bass Feast. I do very well with it for trout and perch. I also have had luck with the anchovy and herring scent's. Latly however Pro-Cure bait scent's has taken over for me and the scent's that they put out are incredible. It's fairly new to utah but they have been in buisness since the early 70's. I rep for them and if you want to try some scent's give me a responce on what kind you want and I'll send you some to try out, then I have NO doubt that you will be hooked. There is a definite difference when you scent a bait for sure. Lot's of Luck SOCKEYESLAYER [signature] Re: [sockeyeslayer] Need your opinion on Scents - gofish - 02-23-2005 I'd love to try some out. I'de like whatever you would recommend for trout and for Kokes. Thanks. [signature] Re: [gofish] Need your opinion on Scents - UintaIce - 02-23-2005 MIKE'S GLO SCENT is excellent as well. If fishing Strawberry, Lost Creek, East Canyon, or Rockport, I like their Crawfish stink the best! It's big-time sticky like the Smelly Jelly, but I think we've done a little better with Mike's. They have multiple flavors as well. [signature] Re: [UintaIce] Need your opinion on Scents - gofish - 02-23-2005 Thanks. Where would I find it? [signature] Re: [gofish] Need your opinion on Scents - polokid - 02-23-2005 I think "common" scents is probably the best!!! [sly][] But I personally havent found any!!! [signature] Re: [polokid] Need your opinion on Scents - d-mack - 02-23-2005 If i had some extra cents maybe i would try some of these fancy scents. until then i'll just fish with my 6th sense...[crazy] About scents....I'm still on the fence. And find myself going back to smelly jelly, crawfish salt, and anchove salt. There is a few of the scents out there that work better than the rest. I think that some of the scents, just cover up negetive scent on your lure from handling, etc. Where a few of them actually work as an attractor. Some of the better scents seem to be those that are made from fish, or crawfish. I have heard some good things about, Kick n bass scents. But haven't tried it yet, so it's next on the list. Tube Dude" I have a similar story about garlic, only it was added to cheese, and did it ever make a difference! Good luck with your search on scent. If anyone tells you that scent doesn't work, then they didn't try the right stuff. I know I won't go fishing without it! [signature] Re: [Lundman] Need your opinion on Scents - Spades - 02-24-2005 Do you guys use scents for icefishing? I've never even though about doing that but if it's legal i'll try it. [signature] Re: [gofish] Need your opinion on Scents - acey - 02-24-2005 If I am bait fishing I will spray a little WD40 on the worm, Power Bait, or cut bait before dropping it into the water. It masks the human scent from your hands plus acts as an attractant in the water. Years ago when fishing near Puffer Lake above Beaver with my boys we were using Power Bait floating above sliding egg sinkers and a swivel. When we arrived we saw a guy sitting on a chair across the small pond we were fishing and reading a book. He caught one or two fish while we were there while we caught about eighteen. After several hours we decided to go up to Puffers to fish and were about loaded up in the van when the guy comes running up to us and explains that he has come to vacation there from out of state and has seen how many more fish we caught than him and begged us to tell him what our secret was. I asked him if he was using Power Bait, yes, rigging it with the sliding sinkers, yes. Do you have any WD40? Yes. Spray the WD40 onto the Powerbait before you cast it out! I wish I had a picture of his face. Really? Yeah! Try it. Acey [signature] Re: [acey] Need your opinion on Scents - hashbaz - 02-24-2005 Sorry Acey, but I thought I'd respond before you get flamed by someone else. Some people find it unethical to use WD40. Being a petroleum product (I think), it pollutes the water. I doubt fish cops could nail you, but the EPA might be able to nail you, and I think their bite is even more painful. On the bright side, your lures won't rust[]. [signature] Re: [acey] Need your opinion on Scents - Kent - 02-24-2005 Please read the WD-40 label and use it for lubricating your equipment but not for spraying your baits.
