Canyon Lake & Highland Chain of Lakes Report - JimF - 06-17-2005 Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 80 degrees; 909.90': Largemouth are fair to good at daylight in 5'-8' in trees and stickups on 1/4 oz. Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), wacky rigged pumpkin Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com), on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com), weighted Albino Snap Back soft jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 4" Ice Tea Scoundrel worms. After mid-morning, work mainlake points w/a C-rigged green-pumpkin Snap Back lizard or 4" Scoundrel worm on a drop shot rig. Upriver, "power fishing" produces at daylight using a white 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbait, 1/8th Tiny-T buzzbaits, Daquri JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters (www.jdcbaits.com). Smallmouth are good at night in 15'-25' of water using a 1/8 oz. Tiny-T jig and pig, Sliding Weight Baby Craw on split shot rigs and drop shot worms along ledges and rock piles. Stripers are fair at night under lights on Spoiler Shads, Pirk Minnows and white grubs. White Bass are good at night under light on mainlake channel points using 2" pearl Spoiler Shads, vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and tight-lining live minnows. Crappie are good upriver in 10'-14' tight to trees and laydowns on 1/32 oz. crappie jigs and Tube Lures and live minnows.
