Pole Repair.... - Carp_Punisher - 07-05-2005

[#808000][cool] Ok the other day the tip of one of my poles mysteriously broke off. Although I suspect foul play [mad] I have yet to obtain enough evidence to prove it. Fingerprints should be coming back frm the lab any day now [Tongue]. Is it worth repairing or should I go buy a new pole? Also do those tip repair kits they sell work or are they crap?[/#808000]

Unless you don't like the rod, get one of those tip repair kits and repair it. I have used them a few times and they work fine. The tip might not match the other guides on the rod, but the fish don't seem to mind.

You might want to check some of the local fishing shops if you don't want to invest in the repair kits. I had my tip fixed for 2.50 in a local shop out of state. It didn't look hard to do, but for 2.50....I'd let them worry about it.

There are plenty of sizes of tips available from many of the repair shops out there. As was mentioned, sometimes the guides don't match the original equipment but will suffice.

If perhaps you have broken off more than six inches from your rod, it may be time to retire that one and seek companionship from a new one.[cool]

OOOOOOOH! ME! ME! ME! I know the answer to this question![sly] You can buy a rod tip kit and do it yourself or you can go the sportsman warehouse way. They can fix it for about $2.50 and they will replace it if it ever gets loose and falls of for free.My wife has gone no were near your rod tip either![Tongue] She is the rod tip destroyer ! Cant count how many tips she has broken to many to count.[Tongue]

From Carp_Punisher to rod punisher....whats next![Wink] I would suggest as others, just slap on a new tip and call her bad, unless a whole bunch is broken off.

Depends, how much did you pay for the rod? Depending on the quality, if it is a cheap special then why not invest in a better rod?
