Minersville - wormandbobber - 11-12-2005

I enjoyed a good trip to Minersville with PBH on Saturday the 5th and loved seeing the big bows back in the reservoir after several years of drought. We caught bows ranging from 14-20 inches using buggers on our fly rods. The fish seemed to be close to shore...although not yet as big as the Yuba bows, these bows are just as fat. Give this reservoir another year or two and it should be back to one of the best rainbow fisheries in the state. Hopefully, some jerk won't dump more sacramento perch back in.

I too hope it will continue to be "transplant" free. Nice to hear there are getting to be some big bows in there.

Hey Jed, take I-15 south to Beaver, then go west on hiway 21, around 5 miles and you are there.

Sacramento Perch? is didnt know they were in UT. Crowley Lake in CA has these, seems like a long way to transplant.

Welcome back, W&B

They have been in Utah for years and as far as I know they were planted legally in DMAD and another lake or slough in that area. WH2

The lake is about 70% full...the water level is in great shape and the fish are growing like crazy. A group of fishermen in the area really like the sacramento perch at gunnison res.....my guess is that they were the ones who transplanted the fish. They probably wanted a population of them closer to home.
