Ice fishing opportunities abound statewide thanks to the efforts of the state's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), which stocks Connecticut lakes with trout each winter season.
In eastern Connecticut, Beach Pond (Voluntown), Black Pond (Middlefield/Meriden), Crystal Lake (Ellington), Mashapaug Lake (Union) and Quonnipaug Lake (Guilford) each received 50 fish.
In western Connecticut, West Hill Pond (New Hartford/Barkhamsted), Mt. Tom Pond
