The NTSB Black box - windknot - 12-22-2005

[size 2]The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with U.S. auto makers for the past five years, whereby the auto makers were installing black box voice recorders in four-wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV's in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last moments before the crash.
They were not surprised to find in 44 of the 50 states the recorded last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were, "Oh, @#*^!"
But the states of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky were different, where 89.3 percent of the final words were, "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin."

Durring flight training we listened to a number of accident recordings. The last words uttered by pilots most often is also "oh $#!t."

On the lighter side -
What are the two most dangerous words in aviation?

"Watch this!"

Hey FlyingFish. Here in Cali, they consider any pilot that can walk away from any type of landing, a good pilot regaurdless of the outcome of the plane.[cool]

FF,
Being a trained aircraft crash investigator I can tell you this, there is only 1 reason aircraft crash.

The pilot ran out of altitude, airspeed and ideas simultaneously.
