What paint to use on a boat? - Kent - 07-13-2006 What paint (epoxy or whatever) have you found works especially well on marine plywood that is exposed to water, and where is it sold? It's available almost everywhere. [signature] Re: [kentofnsl] What paint to use on a boat? - GEEZER - 07-13-2006 I'd suggest taking a serious look at Imron (sp). It is a two part epoxy type paint that is super durable. It's kinda spendy though. Whatever you do, be sure you've got a good clean surface preparation or it'll peel on ya no matter what paint you use. Mix the color with the polyester resin. You'll never get a good seal with just paint on plywood.[/size][/black][/font] [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] What paint to use on a boat? - Kent - 07-13-2006 I'm trying to preserve some wood that has been on the boat since the day the boat was manufactured. It is still in relatively good shape, and I want to keep it that way. They also sell a stuff that makes it jell quickly & then harden. If the wood is original color that would work great. You could put a sheet of fiberglass cloth on also & have a bang up job. If the wood is painted, I'd do just like BLM suggested. [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] What paint to use on a boat? - Kent - 07-13-2006 I purchased a gallon of fiberglass resin a few years ago. Had great plans for it at the time, but ended up not needing it. Any idea how long an unopened can of resin is still good to use? They repair boats and can sell you products that are designed for use on boats. Resin does go bad and need to be used. 3 D Art Incorporated (801) 966-1372 5165 W 4900 S Kearns UT 84118-6363 [signature] Re: [kentofnsl] What paint to use on a boat? - Lundman - 07-14-2006 Hi Kent - just to give you information overload here is a good site for seeing what options are available.
