Southeast Freshwater Striped Bass fishing Report - TeamHyperStriper - 07-22-2006 Man it is Hot as Hades down here in the south. We have been having consistent 95 - 103 degrees everyday, with an occasional t-storm. The fish are Deep, and people are hot and lazy. I recommend you try night fishing this time of year for several reasons: 1. Fish bite better a night 2. Boat Traffic 3. Heat 4. Jet Skiers, better yet known as water Nats 5. A good excuse to get out after work...lol Look at the major points near the mouths of creeks close to the dam. Once you mark some decent fish hanging near balls of bait, it is time to drop downs lines 5 foot above where you marked the fish. Keep your bait fresh as possible. If you don't have live bait, this is a good time to try jigging. Remember, if you don't see fish on the graph, you won't see fish in the boat! So keep moving! Also try near any well lit areas, marinas, ramps, etc... Summer time fishing can be fast and furious. The fish are schooling pretty good, and when they come through it's not out of the ordinary to have every rod in the water get hit! So get out there and catch the fever and battle with a real fish, and don't battle the boat traffic and Heat! With the air temp as hot as it is, late evening and night time is prime time for fishing; not matter what you're targeting. I'm glad to see that the Stripers are doing so well over there. Keep up the good reports and feel free to let us know if there is a not so good one as well. A bad day fishing still beats the heck out of a good day at work.[cool] [signature] |
