Report from Rivers End Tackle - gdn443 - 10-14-2006 UPDATED BY PAT ON FRIDAY, October 13th, 2006 STRIPED BASS- Bass fishing picked up a bit this week or maybe the blues slowed up some. Theres been some more schoolies and medium sized bass in the River. The Causeway has a decent run of schoolies at the bridge openings with leadheads catching the best. Long Sand Shoal and Southwest Reef have had a good dawn bite on bait. The Race has also had some large bass daytimes on bunker. The bunker has thinned out some more in the River but theres still enough to net and even snag at times. The fall run thus far has been slow in Rhode Island while at Montauk its been red hot. BLUEFISH- The bluefish action is slowing in the River. Theres still some surface action and blitzing around the bunker schools at the mouth of the River. The Race, Gut , Long Sand Shoal, Pigeon Rip and Long Sand Shoal have had good action this week. PORGIES- Thinning out a bit but still worthwhile at Hatchetts and Bartletts. BLACKFISH- Reports were a bit better this week moving up from slow to fair action. A few good reports from Hatchetts and Niantic. The most consistent action seems to be in shallower water. FALSE ALBACORE- Slower than the last report. A few from Watch Hill, and some from Pine Island mixed in with Bonito. HOURS- The sun is rising later and so are we.
