Best tube fishfinder? - Illinoisgiller - 12-23-2006 I seen where the Tube Dude has installed both the Eagle Cuda 168EX and the Eagle Fishmark 320. Is there a personal preference? It looks as though both pull the same power.[crazy]I'd like to make a decision while I have plenty of time to shop around. The hot new thing now is color.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]The reality is that we really don't need all the bells and whistles that boaters do. As long as we can read the bottom contours, see where the fish are hanging and maybe get a temperature reading, we are good to go. Unless you do all your fishing directly below your tube or toon, the fish finder aspect of sonar is good only for determining the best depth to be fishing. You seldom catch what you see on the screen, and most fish you catch are never seen on your sonar.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]I prefer the Cuda 168 EX over the FishMark 320 for tubing. The latter is better for ice fishing. Once you get the basic settings on the Cuda all you need to do is turn it on and off each trip. You don't need to keep fiddling with the settings. The 320 is not all that much more complicated but does sometimes require some tweaking while you are on the water.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Humminbird is making a few new models that look like good tubing and tooning sonars too. Not enough time and money to check them all out. If you find something that works and is easy to operate you tend to stay with it.[/#0000ff] [signature] |
