I've been diving out by Catalina Island. There were some fisherman that kept a 'whoopin and a hollerin' from a boat and were bringing in some BIG fish. I don't know what they were. They were still fishing on the bottom. My Wife gave me the evil eye when she noticed that I'd rather be with them...It's really nice down there once you get away from the harbors, good luck fishing.

I FISH OUT OF SAN DIEGO EVERY YEAR. YOU CAN FIND THE
SROTFISHING FLEET AT THREE WEB PAGES.

1 FISHERMAN'S LANDING
2 POINT LOMA SPORTFISHING
3 H & M LANDING

I LIKE THE CONDOR, A GREAT BOAT OUT OF FISHERMAN'S LANDING
(NEW, BIG, CLEAN, WITH A NICE CREW )

BEST FISHING IS FROM JULY TO LATE OCT. ABOUT $150 TO $200
PER PERSON

kEEP A EYE ON THE DAILY FISH COUNTS, WHEN YOU SEE THAT THEY ARE GETTING OVER 100 FISH IN A DAY PER BOAT, DROP EVERYTHING AND GET TO SAN DIEGO. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

[cool][#0000ff]If you haven't already done so, go post your question on the CALIFORNIA BFT BOARD. TubeN2 (my son) is the moderator and regularly posts reports for many of the landings.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Also, my grandson is a deckhand for several of the landings in the Ventura/Oxnard area and they get some really good fishing up that way too. Should be able to get you the best deal while you are there.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Mid summer is usually wide open, along the whole coast. You will have your choice of many different species and fishing locations, all with good expectations.[/#0000ff]

I ran sportboats in Calif. for 20 years before moving up here.I can PM you if you can send me specifics such as skill level, length of trip, type of fish you would like, etc.You could also ask Aquaman. He was my deckhand for about 6 of those years and he has a lot experience there.

You can rent fishing kayaks at OEX Kayaks in La Jolla for $40/day. You can also rent fishing yaks on Catalina for $60 day at Two Harbors. You can get a guided yakfishing trip in San Diego for $200/day.

We've used Helgren's out of Oceanside for many years. They've never let us down.

I've heard great things about this operation out of SD. I'm looking at booking a trip with them this fall or next spring. Good luck!

I've been happy with the boats, crews, and prices at H&M Landing. The short range day trips are fun and you can catch a variety of fish, but the long range multi-day trips get you into more Tuna.

Re: [FishNCoach] Deep sea Fishhing - Jedburton - 01-09-2007

I may be down there fishing around the same time. As tubedude already mentioned post on the california board. I usually try to go down there at least once a year with steve (tubn2) and his son as well as japan ron when he is around. If you can, try and to get ahold of tubn2. Although i will warn you once you go you won't be able to stop. Deep sea is definitely addicting and steve will keep tempting you when he gets a chance. I am ruined for the rest of my life. My only wish is that I could go more. I love it. anyway good luck and have a good time (I am sure you will)
