[signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - trollboy8 - 01-18-2007 I'm thinking further north, Mantua? Pineview? [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - N.E.T.O. - 01-18-2007 Lepomis cyanellus, or more commonly referred to as the "Green Sunfish" I caught one of those last Saturday at the Fabulous Utah Lake. Mine was about 9". (State record is 10 1/2"!) Here is a pic. (The middle one: Green Sunfish) At first I though it was a bluegill, but then I caught a Blugill and saw the difference. (bluegill is the BOTTOM fish in the picture!) Where did you catch yours? Randy [signature] Re: [N.E.T.O.] Deadly Results - Coldfooter - 01-18-2007 I might be way off base but that looks like a larger UL gill to me.. Its mouth looks to small to be a Pumpkin seed.. Note the larger mug in the picture I posted.. [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - Fishhound - 01-18-2007 [black][size 3]Your both wrong ! They're brim ! LOL! Sorry, a little southern humor there.[/size][/black] [black][size 3][/size][/black] [black][size 3]Actually, Both your's and N.E.T.O's "big" fish are Green Sunfish. Notice the mouth, the tail and the color.[/size][/black] [black][size 3][/size][/black] [black][size 3]Pumpkinseed's are a different species. [/size][/black] [signature] Re: [Fishhound] Deadly Results - Coldfooter - 01-18-2007 Wrong! We're not wrong in this state.. You seem to forget we also have wallieye'd Pike here LMAO!! [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - Fishhound - 01-18-2007 [black][size 3]LMAO ! Your right, I forgot where I was for a minute.[/size][/black] [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - kastmaster - 01-18-2007 Could that be a rock bass? That looks like the one I caught at Lake Erie a few years back. The mouth looks larger than the ones on greenies or bluegills. [signature] Re: [Fishhound] Deadly Results - Coldfooter - 01-18-2007 I knew it,, I just knew that was the case.. lmao! Oh and let us not forget our beloved UL Blue channel Cat.. [laugh][laugh][laugh] Btw,, it was taken at UL.. Its not a Rock Bass.. [signature] Re: [kastmaster] Deadly Results - Fishhound - 01-18-2007 [black][size 3]Rock Bass have a more distinctive lateral line and look a bit different. I grew up in an area with all of those fish Rock bass(several other fish are also called Rock bass), sunfish, pumpkins, and gills and sundry other fish lumped together with the label "Brim" - Bream to the more northern southerners.[/size][/black] [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - Fishhound - 01-18-2007 [black][size 3]LOL ! I keep hearing about them. One of these days I'm gonna catch me one of those monster blues outta that pond. I gotta stout rod and a casting reel set up with 50# big game line just waiting to be challanged.[/size][/black] [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - MrLipripper - 01-18-2007 Back in Kansas in my youth, I caught literally hundreds of green sunfish. I'm gonna guess - Holmes Creek. You can't swing a dead cat around BFT without hitting a Holmes Creek thread or post!!![cool] [signature] Re: [Coldfooter] Deadly Results - fuzzyfisher - 01-18-2007 ok i'm getting a kick out off this fish.. green sunfish, pumkin seeds, green perch, and rock bass. are all the names i have seen this fish have. so guess it's where you are as to what it is.. N.A.T.O. fish does look like a bluegile to me tho not a sunfish. sunfish look like SM. bass with bluegile marking's.. realy a cool fish in my book.. [signature] Re: [N.E.T.O.] Deadly Results - TubeDude - 01-18-2007 [cool][#0000ff]Sorry, bro. The larger fish is a FEMALE bluegill. They are usually lighter colored than the males. Green sunfish have much larger mouths in proportiion.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Here is a "hers and his" picture of a couple of Pelican Lake bluegills.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [fuzzyfisher] Deadly Results - Coldfooter - 01-18-2007 LOL, of course in each location's pet names seem to stick. Gotta love that! [signature] |
