Bait - steveweston - 01-27-2007 I listed this but it didnt show up on my screen, sooo I thought I d try again... Catfish bait... I see that people are using "hotdogs" for bait, along with liver and other fine stuff. I m assuming its ok to use pork and beef products in fresh waters?? What are the regulations for Pork and Beef?? [signature] Re: [steveweston] Bait - Striperhunter - 02-06-2007 There are no such regulations. They only regulate live bait. [url "http://www.ndow.org/...s/fishregs/10_16.pdf"]http://www.ndow.org/...s/fishregs/10_16.pdf[/url] for catfish i like using two hooks with a nightcrawler on one hook and anchovie on the other. Dont forget to chum i recomend alpo canned dog food and fishing by currents. [signature] Re: [Striperhunter] Bait - BaySport - 02-06-2007 Alpo dog food to attract catfish? Why not use cat food instead? [ ![]() Sorry, BaySport [signature] Re: [BaySport] Bait - Mead_Stripers - 02-06-2007 Haha....I chummed with catfood once and all it did was attract a bunch huge carps. Even caught a huge carp on a cut anchovy. Crazy. In all my times at Mead, we've only landed 2 carps by using anchovies. I was under the impression that they were all vegetarian. I guess not. When it comes to chumming for stripers or catfish, nothing beats anchovies. Where there are stripers, there are usually a lot of catfish below. When I use top water action with the cut baits, I catch the stripers. But if I let the cut bait sink to the bottom, then I get catfish. Not a big fan of catfish so they're released immediately. The famous quote told to me was CHUM and the will come. Stripercraze [signature] Re: [stripercraze] Bait - Mead_Stripers - 02-08-2007 I agree. I just puree a few anchovies and chum till they come. I haven't heard of using corn though. I would think that would bring carp and maybe even trouts but who knows, stripers may love corn, too. Best regards, Paul [signature] |
