Ice-Out on? - Dusty_T - 02-22-2007 Any of you that are lucky enough to live in the frozen tundra have any ice-out updates? Here in Nebraska the ice's days are numbered. We have had mid 40's and low 50's all week. Will have a setback this weekend for a few days, but I am betting on about a March 10th maiden voyage. Here in Nebraska it is a bit more time sensitive since all of those Rainbow planters will soon start to go belly up once the water starts to heat up -- it will be a race against time to give them a proper going away. I have attached a pic of one of them on the first day they were planted in late October -- I am hearing from the drill and chill crowd that they have grown up nicely over the winter. I'd probably guess either in the middle of march or more towards the end. I just know I cant wait to the hit open water again on all my favorite lakes.[cool] [signature] Re: [Bassmaster-ND] Ice-Out on? - flygoddess - 02-22-2007 [black][size 3]I know of a few spots and we should get our H3's tonight, so will try hitting one maybe next weekend (after the deep freeze we are suppose to get this weekend)[/size][/black] [signature] Re: [Dusty_T] Ice-Out on? - TubeDude - 02-22-2007 [cool][#0000ff]We have been having 40 and 50 degree weather too, and us soft water fans are gettin' twitchy.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]No problems with our trout dying after ice out. They grow all year here and get to be pretty good sized sometimes.[/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] Ice-Out on? - Dusty_T - 02-22-2007 TD -- Nice fish. Almost looks like a photoshop job (if I did know better ![]() FG -- If the new tubes don't pan out for you, I will give you my parents address there in Utah -- and I will pick them up in April (I won't even charge you a disposal fee) ![]() [signature] Re: [Dusty_T] Ice-Out on? - TubeDude - 02-22-2007 [cool][#0000ff]That fish came out of Strawberry Reservoir. There are quite a few over 10 pounds taken there every year. They are the "triploid" rainbows, sterile so that they will not cross with the cutthroats planted to control chubs.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]We have had some rainbows up to 20 pounds caught through the ice and in open water.[/#0000ff] [signature] |
